Seen in
Journalism
Seen in Journalism is dedicated to restoring accuracy and impartiality to media coverage of sex and gender, and to the protected belief that sex is binary and immutable. We believe journalists have the right to report sex and gender with integrity and honesty, upholding the first principles of our profession, without suffering disbenefit or loss, and we want to help them do so.
What we do
We engage with journalists, regulators and editors to improve the quality of sex and gender coverage across UK outlets. We monitor inaccuracy and bias, and alert editors and journalists to their failures. We submit to consultations and reviews, guided by the principles of accuracy and impartiality, and we offer support and non-legally binding advice to journalists who've faced problems in their newsrooms because of their approach to covering sex and gender. We coordinate with other groups to organise events, produce regular updates and analysis here and on Substack, and our No Fear No Favour podcast. We support and are aligned with the Seen group of organisations: Sex Equity and Equality Networks.
